Creating a seamless member experience post-merger

In 2018, Prospect merged with BECTU, a long-standing client of Parliament Hill. This created an exciting opportunity to launch a Prospect-branded benefits scheme, but also brought a challenge: ensuring high engagement and a smooth transition for all members, both new and existing.

With a diverse membership and a need for continuity, Parliament Hill worked closely with Prospect to ensure the launch of their new scheme was not just functional, but impactful.

A strategic and member-focused rollout

To ensure a strong launch of the Prospect Member Benefits, Parliament Hill focused on:

Delivering high-value offers from day one, including income protection, cinema tickets, and travel insurance

Bridging communications with both Prospect and former BECTU members

Supporting internal teams through training, resources, and launch materials

1. Going the Extra Mile: On-the-Ground Engagement

To build awareness and excitement around the new scheme, Parliament Hill had a branded stand at the Prospect National Conference, providing valuable face-to-face engagement with members. The stand featured:

Live demos of the benefits platform

On-hand support to answer questions and promote the scheme's value

This in-person activation helped boost visibility, trust and excitement around the launch.

2. Internal Support and Onboarding

Parliament Hill also helped Prospect onboard internal teams with a detailed summary pack, outlining:

  • How the scheme operates

  • Clear expectations and responsibilities for both teams

  • A rundown of key benefits and how they support members

This enabled communications, marketing, and membership teams to confidently promote the scheme and answer member questions.

3. Igniting Engagement with a Targeted Email Launch

After months of behind-the-scenes prep, the first direct member email launched in October 2018 — and it hit the ground running. Designed to capture attention and drive action, the campaign reached both Prospect members and former BECTU members who were already familiar with the value of a member benefits scheme.

To supercharge the launch, Parliament Hill provided a full suite of ready-to-use marketing assets, including campaign themes and scheduling templates. This meant Prospect’s marketing team could move quickly and confidently — saving time while keeping messaging sharp, consistent, and on brand.

The result? A powerful first impression that set the tone for ongoing engagement.

Conclusion

Through careful planning, internal engagement, and strategic communications, Prospect successfully launched a robust member benefits scheme that aligned with their values, offering real value to members from the very beginning.

Together with Parliament Hill, they’ve created a sustainable foundation for long-term engagement and satisfaction.
